Basics of Block Printing

with Monica Rico of Wood Thrush Farm

In this workshop, Monica will discuss basic linoleum block carving techniques, tools, materials, and printing methods. Each participant will design and draw their own block, spend time carving it by hand with guidance from the instructor, ink and print, and leave with finished prints and cards to take home. You’ll leave with your finished block as well, so you’ll be able to print from it in the future! Monica will provide information on where to purchase block printing supplies, should you wish to continue practicing after the class. Cost of materials is included in course registration.


Monica Rico is a printmaker, barefoot farmer, and mother of boys at Wood Thrush Farm in Henniker, NH. She makes linocut relief prints on note cards, journals, various sized matted prints, clothing, and textiles. Her work is drawn directly onto linoleum blocks, carved by hand, and individually inked and hand-printed. Each print is an original work and each is slightly different from the next.
 

Simple Weaving with Melody Fulone

Try your hand at simple tapestry weaving in this relaxing and creative workshop. Students will learn simple techniques such as stripes, fringes, ryan loops, and color changes, as well as finishing the woven piece. Yarn and looms will be provided, but you may bring your own yarn if you wish.

Melody is a graphic designer and textile artist living in southern New Hampshire. She grew up experimenting with all manner of fiber crafts, and currently works with a 36" floor loom to fulfill her textile dreams. When she's not weaving or knitting, she's probably working on a logo design for a client, baking bread, or making travel plans.

We are excited to introduce a new Limited Edition series this August.

Inspired by a mentor, Maria Sampaio, these mermaid and pirate portraits will bring you and your kids to Neverland!

Sessions are only available August 20th - August 30th

There is no session fee, however there is a $50 deposit towards your purchase is taken when reserving the 30 minute session.

These fine art illustrative portraits will be digitally designed and painted by Allison and available in a variety of archivally printed mediums.

Mermaid tails and pirate wardrobe provide by the studio.

Up-cycled T-Shirt Workshop

Want to add some new life to a favorite t-shirt? This imaginative workshop will supply you with all the inspiration and supplies to up-cycle an older piece of clothing into something new! Maybe even bring a onesie for a custom baby gift! You bring your article of clothing and we will supply fabric, buttons, trims, tools, and instruction to create a one-of-a-kind wearable piece of art!

Kids Bread Baking Workshop

Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where you will learn the basics of making and kneading bread dough and take home a finished loaf baked in a terra cotta flower pot!

Breads will be baking compliments of New Boston Pizza.

Class will also include how to make homemade butter and plant an herb to flavor future cooking projects.

Students will be able to choose and personalize their own basket
and napkin liner.

Recommended for children ages 8+ to teen or younger children when accompanied by an adult.

Creative Lettering and Florals with RebLetters

Explore the art of lettering and floral illustration in this hands-on workshop! You will learn tools and techniques for creating your own lettered artwork, as well as basics in drawing simple, lovely florals. These skills can then be used to design chalkboards, greeting cards, invitations, and art for your home.
As part of this workshop, each participant will receive guidance in designing their own tote bag to take home. All skill levels are welcome!

Workshop is $55 and includes all materials needed.

Rebecca Mayes of RebLetters is a lettering artist and illustrator based in central Massachusetts. She is a preacher’s wife and full-time mother to two amazing girls. Some of her favorite things in the world are, in no particular order: New England, plants, cheese, Harry Potter, and hiking.
